About Us

There is nothing quite as satisfying as trying on a custom-made article of clothing that you made from scratch.

Whether you enjoy making clothing, curtains, pillows, quilts or your grandchildren’s Halloween costumes, you and I have something in common.

My name is Sara Lara, and I have been sewing since the young age of seven. You can find my projects featured on well established Craftsy site. People seek me out for their sewing related issues all the time.

Sew Orbit have been mentioned on high authority sites like Quora, Fixya and many more.

From the first time I held a needle in my hand and sewed my own pillow out of my dad’s old shirt, I knew that sewing was for me. Sewing is my life’s passion. That is why I created this place, to share my passion with people like you.

My goal for this site is to provide helpful resources for fellow sewers like you. Here are just a few things you can hope to find here.

Tips and Tricks

I can’t tell you how many times I have taught myself something (for instance adjusting thread tension, threading a needle, or fixing a sewing machine) only to find my way was much harder than it needed to be.

Through this site, I hope to teach you the tips and tricks I have learned the hard way to save you time and frustration and to keep things light and fun!

Product Reviews

There are more products available to you than ever before. Whether you are looking to purchase a new sewing machine, embroidery machine or any serger, I have your back. I’ll offer many different product reviews with you in mind.

It’s my hope to be your trusted resource for all your sewing purchases. I take my first-hand experience with many different products and write unbiased product reviews that will help you make smart decisions when considering your next purchase.

How To Videos

All of us learn differently. many of people (myself included) need to see something done once before we can do it for ourselves.

When I first started quilting, I just couldn’t figure it out, that was until a close family friend took the time to sit down with me and show me all she knew. That time she took made all the difference for me.

I know we don’t all know people who are as patient or talented as my friend, and that’s why I’ll be creating numerous video tutorials for people just like me who just need a helping hand.

Through our videos, we hope to be that “trusted friend” who can show you all the basic skills of sewing.

Reading books, plans, and patterns is a great way to start, but being able to see something demonstrated can be the difference between creating something beautiful, and giving up in frustration.

Plans and Patterns

Patterns can often be expensive, and creating your own can be time-consuming and difficult. That’s why we plan to offer many awesome patterns free of charge! We want everyone to be able to experience the joy of sewing.

With many different patterns available including stuffed animals, clothing, and quilts, you’ll be able to find hours of fun right within our pages.

I like to share things, and I love it when people share with me too. If you have a pattern you made that you love, feel free to share it so we can all enjoy making your favorite project.

What’s More

These are just a few of things you can expect to find here! Sewing is one of those learned skills that can be easy to give up when you aren’t getting the outcome your hoping for. I hope I can help you find the skills and the patience to move on and keep on trying.

If you can get past the learning curve and find a groove you will be happy you didn’t give up! The only thing I love more than sewing is sharing that passion with others! It is a wonderful life skill that can bring you hours of rewarding fun.

Not only that, it’s incredibly practical. The amount of money you can save by creating your own clothing or home decor is amazing!

I could go on and on about everything I love about sewing, but I will let you see for yourself. Take some time and browse our pages and find out how much fun it can be for yourself!

If you need anything else just contact me, I’ll try to cover anything as long as it’s related to sewing.
